Mayuko Hagiwara was born on the 16th October 1986 in Gunma, Japan. After graduating from the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Kanoya, Mayuko joined the Cycle Base Asahi Racing team sponsored by leading Japanese bicycle store Cycle Base Asahi. She has won the Japanese National Road Race Championships an impressive three years in a row and has claimed victory at the Japanese Time Trial Championships for the past five consecutive years. She has also represented Japan at the 2012 Summer Olympics and multiple times at the World Championships. Mayuko will make her debut on the professional circuit for the first time with Wiggle Honda in 2013.
